What happened#
Google published the Android Security Bulletin for November 2026 on November 2, 2026. The bulletin says security patch levels of 2026-11-05 or later address all of the listed issues.
The most severe vulnerability is in the Framework component. Google says it could lead to remote code execution with no additional execution privileges needed, and that user interaction is not needed for exploitation. The bulletin identifies the issue as CVE-2026-58868, with a Critical severity rating. It lists affected updated AOSP versions as 14, 15, 16, 16-qpr2, 17.
The 2026-11-01 security patch level includes vulnerabilities in Android runtime and Framework. The bulletin lists CVE-2026-58988 in Android runtime as High severity and describes the most severe Android runtime issue as potentially leading to local information disclosure without additional execution privileges or user interaction.
Framework entries include remote code execution, elevation of privilege, information disclosure, and denial-of-service issues. The listed severities are Critical or High.
SecurityWeek reports that the November updates resolve over 200 vulnerabilities overall. It reports that the first part of the rollout addresses 119 security defects across Android runtime, Framework, and System, while the second part addresses 97 bugs in Kernel, Arm, Imagination Technologies, MediaTek, Unisoc, and Qualcomm components.
Google’s bulletin says Android partners were notified of all issues at least a month before publication. It also says corresponding source code patches would be released to the Android Open Source Project repository within 48 hours after the initial publication.
Are you affected#
Organizations are potentially affected if they manage Android devices that have not received a security patch level of 2026-11-05 or later.
The Android bulletin lists updated AOSP versions 14, 15, 16, 16-qpr2, and 17 for multiple vulnerabilities. Individual issues do not affect every listed version. For example, CVE-2026-58868 is listed for 14, 15, 16, 16-qpr2, and 17, while CVE-2025-26433 is listed for 14 and 15.
Device exposure depends on the device’s installed security patch level and the update provided by its manufacturer or service provider. Google says devices with Android 10 and later may receive security updates as well as Google Play system updates. The bulletin also provides instructions for checking a device’s security patch level through Check and update your Android version.
The bulletin does not provide a list of affected organizations, device fleets, or manufacturers. It also does not state that any of the listed vulnerabilities have been exploited.

What defenders should do now#
-
Inventory managed Android devices and record each device’s security patch level and Android version.
-
Prioritize devices that do not have a security patch level of 2026-11-05 or later, because Google says that level or later addresses all issues in the bulletin.
-
Follow the device manufacturer’s or service provider’s update process for distributing the applicable Android security update.
-
Check Google Play system update status separately where applicable. Google says devices with Android 10 and later may receive security updates as well as Google Play system updates.
-
Review devices running Android versions 14, 15, 16, 16-qpr2, and 17 against the individual version ranges listed in Google’s bulletin.
-
Encourage users to update to the latest version of Android where possible, consistent with Google’s bulletin.
-
Confirm that Google Play Protect remains enabled on devices with Google Mobile Services. Google says it is enabled by default on those devices and is especially important for users who install apps from outside Google Play.
-
Track the Android Open Source Project bulletin for the promised source code patch links and update internal records when Google revises the bulletin.
